Happy Father's Day!

Hello everyone, and Happy Father's Day!
It's going to be a pretty quiet day around here I think, at the very least it has started off that way :) I missed posting last week, but the day got away from me, and we hadn't done much of any note for the week. I've been working on starting an Etsy shop for the Jewelry, and that has taken up most of my evening time.

Creatively, I've been working on bracelets and bookmarks. My bag full of partially crocheted cat toy balls have been staring at me...but I should really wash another fleece for stuffing...so they will just have to stare a little longer.

I'm still working on my photo transfer project as well. I've uploaded all of our photos into google photos so that I have access to all of our pre-cell phone photos that have just been hanging out on the computer upstairs. Matt and I also never compiled our Japan photo albums, so that is another of my long term goals. There are a few walls in this apartment that could use some Matt and Kirsten photography, so hopefully I find gold in my searches. :)

Have a wonderful week and a lovely lazy Sunday. :)

Happy Thursday!

Sorry about the absence - we've been out and about this week! Here are a few pictures of our Yellowstone Adventure (during which the camera battery died and we were unable to take any more photos!) We finally got to see Old Faithful blow, and then spent an hour walking around looking at all the other active geysers and pools around Old Faithful. It was a really wonderful afternoon!

Crested Gecko

We have a crested Gecko, but he doesn't really like to have his picture taken. He really likes fruit, his special crested gecko food, and pooping in his water dish. He runs pretty fast when he can, and he loves to jump!! But he doesn't really like playing with people, so he mostly hangs out in his enclosure with a hiding spot, a stick to climb and leaves to hide under. Here he is!

32nd International Street Food Bazaar

Every year MSU hosts the International Street Food Bazaar in Bozeman, MT. It is held on campus, and this year it seemed like they had record numbers of people attending. Last year was my first visit - I went as part of an assignment for one of my classes. This year Matt was able to go along with me! (And I was there to enjoy the food, not to do a class assignment!) I wanted to get pictures of the food we ate, and of the students making the food...but I got a little too excited about the food...and ended up without any pictures of the actual event. Whoops! Maybe next year :) I did however, bring home the brochure...and took pictures of that!

We enjoyed ourselves immensely. We went with $40, and came home with $1. We went with empty bellies, and came home overstuffed! It was all in all, a fantastic event! We were able to eat from 11 different countries, from Africa to China to Peru. We tried two different curries, (and could have tried more!) had four different types of rice, and four different beverages. We had chicken and beef and fried plantains!

I think my favorite booth was Saudi Arabia's curry, although I didn't like the veggies - okra and green beans. I also loved the sticky rice from Peru's booth, that came with their version of stir fried beef, complete with onions and tomato chunks. I also loved Burma's pumpkin ginger cupcakes, and Malaysia's Pink Lady beverage. Matt thoroughly enjoyed Indonesia's Chicken Sate with Chili and Garlic Peanut Sauce, and India's spicy Samosa (like a pasty!) and curried chicken. He also cleaned the plate filled at the African Society's booth - fried plantains, rice, and spicy chicken sauce. We were glad we also grabbed Aruk from Iraq, because as a biscuit-y pastry filled with meat, it was not spicy and helped cool our mouths between bites of seriously spicy curry. The American Indian Council's fry bread with honey and powdered sugar really capped the night off for us, in a doughy sweet treat.

We can't wait to go back again next year!! What do you think you would have tried?

Etsy Weekends - National Parks

I only have one item to share with you this weekend, but it is very cool...thus worthy of its very own post! A little background first: Matt and I love to travel. Over the last few years we've been a bit silly about it, moving instead of visiting...but it's been an exciting and interesting adventure! We have big travel plans for our future when we have real jobs and vacation time and all that. For now, our plans are a little smaller. We live in South Western Montana, and have easy (well easy enough!) access to several National Parks. So far we've only visited Yellowstone, and haven't really been able to explore it in as great of depth as we would like. Also, living on this side of the country it will be much easier to road trip to National Parks in California, and the Pacific Northwest. While we're waiting for the financial stability to travel the world, we figure we'll travel this immense country first! The item I found on Etsy that I'm sharing today will help us track our travels...and it is perfect for us!

We hope you've enjoyed this installment of Etsy Weekends, and hope to see you back next weekend!

100th Blog Post

This is our 100th Blog Post! It's only taken us three years! :)

I thought I would come up with something really clever to talk about to commemorate this momentous occasion...but I can't think of anything worthy. So here are some pictures of sheep and a llama!

Yellowstone!

We made a quick run through Yellowstone National Park again yesterday. We live about two hours from the West Entrance, and a little over an hour from the North Entrance, so Yellowstone is a great day trip for us!

Here's just a sample of the photos we took:

Vacation Part Two

It's now been a couple of weeks since Mom and Dad went back home to the sheep and Lucy, but I am still working on sorting and cleaning up pictures from the visit. I'm a little behind...but since I still haven't sorted the pictures from Mom's visit in 2011, I don't feel so bad about these ones! Here are a few that Dad took after our driving tour of Bozeman. It's a service offered during the summer through the Museum of the Rockies. It was roughly two hours of Bozeman history combined with a lovely drive through the town and a discussion of the architecture of the town.

During the tour our guide mentioned that the Pioneer Museum in Bozeman is a very interesting place to visit, so we stopped down there after the tour. It was great, a small museum full of local history, and a noose where they hung the only inmate to be put to death in the jail. It reminded me of the historical society in BRF where I volunteered when I was in middle and high school.

The tour guide also mentioned that the "warbirds" were coming to town that weekend. We went out to the airfield twice, but missed them both times. They weren't in town for an incredibly long time. But Matt still managed to get a picture of one while we were at Music on Main - it flew overhead on our way to dinner!

I think those are really all the good pictures, so I'll have to wait for another visit before I can share more pictures! :) Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later! Maybe next time we can talk them into going to Yellowstone!

Little Baby Ducks

Matt and I try to do our loop around Peet's Hill several times a week as it is a great hour long workout! It's also a great view of the town, and depending on when you hit the trail fairly empty of people, and full of dogs! There's also a cute little duck pond on the trail, and we sometimes stop to visit with them, and sometimes even remember to bring our bread! This week, we saw the cutest thing on our walk...Baby Ducks! Today they were sleeping when we walked past, glad we had the camera with us when they were out and active! Happy Friday Everyone, and have a great weekend :)

Palisade Falls

During their visit, Matt and I took Mom and Dad to one of our favorite spots here in Bozeman: Palisade Falls in the Hyalite Canyon. It's a beautiful waterfall that you can climb right up to, and can even climb over (Matt and I did this a few years back, and someday hope to do it again, but it was a little scary...there was a bit of actual rock climbing and when you are only 5' tall, those footholds seem really far away!) This year we managed to get there at a really quiet time. There was one lady leaving as we arrived, and one group arriving as we were leaving! Unfortunately that meant we didn't get a great group shot, but we still managed to get some great pictures! We even noticed that some of the upper rocks seem to be tilted out farther than we remember, causing us to wonder when the rocks will fall, and hope no one is there getting a family portrait taken when it happens! Anyway, enough talking...here are the pictures!

Palisade Falls is one of our favorite places to go because you get a nice walk in, but it isn't too difficult. Even wheelchairs can make it up to the Falls, so with knee trouble and foot pain, we still made it to the top without too much complaining. Plus the scenery is unrivaled! :)

Happy Fourth of July!

From all of us at Hide & Hair, we hope you have a safe and happy Fourth of July! You'll find us defying the heat, working on some wool knitting projects, and enjoying the Fireworks! :)
