Matt's Malas

In 2016, Matt started buying gemstones to make himself simple stretch bracelets. He had an interest in semi-precious gemstones, wanting to learn more about them, and realized that there weren't many options for manly gemstone jewelry. He made himself several bracelets, accumulating lots of excess beads. When I (Kirsten) started pestering him about those excess beads, Matt suggested that I use them for some other purpose...and reaching back into my old skills bag, I started making earrings and non-stretch bracelets with his input on gemstone combos.

In 2019, Matt took a few classes at MSU that led him down a Mala making path, and in 2020 we started making them together, with Matt picking out all the elements, while I did the stringing and knotting. It is a true togetherness activity, and we really enjoy our time spent together making this jewelry.
