Tomatoes!

I am eagerly awaiting the ripening of my tomatoes, but none of them are very close. I would say the yellow pears are the only ones that look like they are headed toward being ripe. They all look great though and are filling their plants with more and more fruit! I can't wait to walk out to the garden and find ripe tomatoes...soon I hope!

Yellow Pear Tomatoes
I had been harvesting my peas like crazy, but it has gotten too hot and they have stopped producing. I've been trying to harvest beans, but it looks like the deer and the bunnies have gotten there ahead of me. I've still been finding a few bush beans those hungry buggers missed, and last night we had new potatoes with green onions and beans. It was tasty!!

While Matt's Mom was here visiting we discussed my pepper problems:

They are tiny! They haven't grown much in height since I placed them in their raised bed, even though they have been growing new leaves. We did some research and I have some ideas for next year, I'm going to start the peppers stupid early from seed, and I'm going to get water walls! It looks like peppers really want the night temp to not go below 70 degrees. It gets a lot colder than that here!! The water walls are supposed to insulate the plants, and hopefully keep them warmer at night! Check back next summer to see if I'm successful ;)

Have a great week, we're halfway through now! :)

Scrap Yarn Scarves

At Hide & Hair we love to find ways to use "unusable" yarn. We came up with the mouse toys to use up scrap wool and mohair that was just lying around, and lately we've been making scrap yarn scarves to use up the yarns that won't felt down into mice. Sometimes a yarn may have a lot left over, but it is scratchy or too furry, or any other number of reasons why some yarn is always moved to the back of the pile. Luckily, with some of these scarves it doesn't matter how scratchy the yarn is, because it is usually covered up by the yarns surrounding it! Sometimes just knitting on a larger needle opens the yarn up and keeps it from getting too scratchy as well. Most of the scarves shown are for sale in our Etsy Shop. I hope we've inspired you to take another look through your yarn closets! :)

Etsy Weekends - Coffee Mugs

I don't drink coffee, I don't even really like the smell of it. But I do love tea, and hot cocoa, so I still love coffee mugs! I can't really decide what I want though, if I want the Japanese style tea cups, or if I want a giant thick mug that can hold more ounces than my bladder can hold. Most of the mugs in my favorites on Etsy are similar though, sleek in design, with a good thick handle, and a beautiful glaze. I so love shiny things. Here are a few of my favorites!

Yellowstone!

We made a quick run through Yellowstone National Park again yesterday. We live about two hours from the West Entrance, and a little over an hour from the North Entrance, so Yellowstone is a great day trip for us!

Here's just a sample of the photos we took:
